Why Razz Teacher Training?
We know there are an abundance of teacher training programs available—online and in studios nearby. But we feel strongly that our program exceeds not only the Yoga Alliance standards, but also many of the offerings you’ll find elsewhere. We know we’re biased, but hear us out…
Razz Yoga was founded on the principle of compassion. We strive to make sure our space feels welcoming for all, and that wherever you are on your path you find a home and a community. With that in mind, our training revolves around this same spirit and philosophy. We want you to leave our training feeling compassionate not only in the way you teach, but also in how you speak to others, and perhaps more importantly, to yourself. We want you to leave our training feeling like you have a greater understanding of your own body and needs, and with this knowledge can share tools with your students, friends and family on how to tap into this state of intuition and centeredness.
If you’re a regular student at Razz, you know that one of our core values is to encourage one another. (And if you’re not a regular student, stop by for a FREE class. Just email Heather to get started!) Yoga is a journey, it isn’t a competition. We want you to feel encouraged wherever you are in your practice. And as most of us can attest to, that can vary day by day! Our training will give you the tools to keep encouraging your students to not only explore, but to also listen, so that they know when to move toward an edge and when to move away.
One of the most important skills you’ll gain in our training is confidence. We created our training program to give you the tools to share your yoga practice with others in a knowledgeable and skilled way. You will leave our training feeling confident to teach others, but this confidence will not only come from the material you’ve learned or the asana you’ve practiced, this confidence will come from your own practice—your own listening. We will give you tools throughout this training that will help you understand your own needs and how to best nourish yourself. This skill will help you share your love of yoga with others with confidence, compassion and ease.
We believe strongly in collaboration. We offer multiple styles of yoga, as well as a diverse teaching faculty. We want you to experience the variety of lineages and styles we offer, and get the opportunity to learn from a wide variety of teachers. We will give you access to teachers with backgrounds in such lineages and offerings as Vinyasa, Hatha Raja (Dharma Yoga), Alignment (Iyengar), yin and restorative yoga, and hope that you walk away feeling inspired by the diversity of our program.
Razz Yoga is a home for our community of yogis. It’s your PSL (pumpkin spice latte), your place to put on your comfy clothes, roll out your mat, and take an exhale. No matter where you are, or what you’re going through, we want you to be able to experience it all knowing you’re feeling supported by our community. As you navigate through our training you’ll find there are moments that feel tough, moments when you feel tired and we want you to know we’ll be here to support you. There will also be moments when you’re so excited about everything you’re learning (which will likely be much of the time), that you just can’t wait to get out there and share your knowledge with the world. We will provide you with opportunities to practice teaching, and when you finish our program we want you to know you’ll have a home here at Razz. We always look to our graduates when we’re bringing on new energy to the Razz team.
