5 Ways Teacher Training Will Enrich Your Life
Are you considering a teacher training program, or more specifically the Razz Teacher Training? Many students express interest in a training program but are worried about the actual “teaching” part. Although our program is called “Teacher Training” it really is more of a life training experience—it will give you a deeper insight and understanding of your yoga practice and will provide you with additional resources and tools to live a more fulfilling and balanced life. It will change who you are and how you relate to others and the world.
Yoga is so much more than the physical asanas. It's a deep practice that offers so much from the philosophical roots (and how to connect this to your life) to breathing techniques and meditation. However, even with our experienced staff, there is only so much a teacher can offer in a 60-minute class. Over the course of our training you’ll have the time and opportunity to understand the richer elements of a yoga practice and more importantly, you will have the space to incorporate these facets into your life. What might that look like?
You’ll feel more steady.
The beauty of a consistent yoga practice is learning how to move through obstacles with less tension and greater ease. Through asana, breathwork and meditation, you’ll learn the skills you need to let go of the things that are not serving you, as well as learn to not be attached to particular outcomes. Aparigraha in Sanskrit, is translated as “non-attachment,” and is one of the 5 yamas, or guidelines of yoga. It’s a key element to a yoga practice because it is believed that our attachment—whether to things, people, actions or outcomes—is actually what creates suffering.
You’ll be a better partner.
When you are more in-tune with your inner experience it’s easier to communicate your needs and desires with those you love. It’s also easier to know what your partner and other loved ones are needing from you. Yoga helps you fill your own cup so that when it’s time to care for those around you, you’re pouring from a space of fullness vs. emptiness.
You will find greater acceptance.
One of the most powerful tools of a consistent yoga practice is the ability to be ok with what is. When you stop striving for more (or for perfection) you find yourself in a place that allows for more grace. This can be as simple as not getting frustrated when your partner forgets to load the dishwasher to bigger issues like loving your body for what it can do instead of what you think it should look like. Santosha, or contentment in Sanskrit, helps teach you how to be in a place where you feel aligned with your true inner self. And it all starts on the mat!
You will find decision making is easier.
Some decisions are just hard, but oftentimes we clutter the decision making process with too much external input. One of the aspects of a yoga practice is learning how to tune out the extra noise and be able to listen to the internal voice instead. This isn’t an easy practice, but through the course of a training you’ll learn additional tools that can help you find a clearer path when you’re faced with another decision.
You’ll move better!
It’s true that a consistent yoga practice will make your yoga practice stronger but it will also make all of your other activities easier as well. If you’re a hiker, cyclist or runner, you’ll find your recovery is faster because your hips and hip flexors are more open. If you like to swim, your shoulder mobility will increase and your core strength will help support you for longer periods of time. And if you just love to spend time outdoors, being in nature and walking, you’ll find you have greater stamina (and perhaps even a greater appreciation) for the world around you.
