Get to Know the Razz Yoga Teacher Training Faculty

We believe community is everything, which is why we are so proud of our family of teachers we’ve brought together for the Razz Yoga 200 Hour Training program. Each of our teachers brings a unique perspective and experience to their teaching, while at the same time infusing their offerings with the Razz principles of acceptance, warmth and compassion.

Lisa Shealey

Co-Leader: Yoga Philosophy and History, Asana

What inspires you to teach yoga?

My inspiration to teach continues to change and evolve over the past ten years. Most recently, I feel a deep sense of responsibility to teach not just the asanas, but the inward journey towards truly knowing ourselves, an embodiment of the practice on and off the mat.

What is your background- both in yoga and otherwise?

I have a Bachelor's degree in Mass Communications and Marketing, and spent the majority of my professional career working at Under Armour Headquarters in Human Resources. When my career began to consume my life, I sought out a yoga teacher training program. I completed both my 200 and 300 hour trainings at Baltimore Yoga Village under the study of Anjali Sunita. I have been teaching for ten years now, and have experience in Hatha, Vinyasa, Beginner, Pre & Postnatal, Restorative and Yin. I am also Reiki 1 certified and have a certificate in Feng Shui.

What do you hope to bring to the students in the teacher training?

Beyond the core concepts of this training, I hope to bring the students a sense of ease, empowerment, and embodiment. I want them to know that they already have what they need to teach yoga, and all that they need is themselves!

What brings you joy?

My family! I am a homebody, and truly enjoy being at home with my husband, two daughters, and our dog. When we are all together, we gather in our kitchen to cook and eat and laugh, and there is nothing that brings me more joy than that! (Ok, maybe dark chocolate?!)

Can you share one thing (or two!) about the Razz community that inspires and/or motivates you?

The sense of community at Razz is truly remarkable. Every student, teacher and staff member I have encountered is enlivened with the essence of yoga - it is really something special!

Beth MacMullan

Co-leader: Pranayama & Meditation

What inspires you to teach yoga?

I am inspired by the connection formed by sharing yoga with students and helping each and every person realize their true nature.

What is your background- both in yoga and otherwise?

I am a long time educator of all ages with a specialty in instructing students who struggle with ADHD, executive functioning and dyslexia. I am a trained 500hr Dharma Yoga teacher. I am also a trained Radiant Child, yoga nidra, meditation and pranayama teacher.

What do you hope to bring to the students in the teacher training?

I hope to provide guidance and support as the trainees delve into the 8 limbs of yoga, specifically pranayama and meditation. I hope to offer a solid foundation for a personal yoga practice as well as development of strong skills for sharing yoga with others.

What brings you joy?

Space and time to be completely immersed in a moment in time…a smile, a breath, a pose, a gazing point, a thought, a laugh, an offering, etc.

Can you share one thing (or two!) about the Razz community that inspires and/or motivates you?

There are so many things that inspire me about the Razz Community but the two that stand out to me are receptiveness and dedication. Since the very beginning, Razz yogis were open and ready to show up, practice, support each other, and learn!  Throughout the years, led by the genuineness of Heather, Razz yogis remain dedicated and steadfast to their practices—all the while honoring each other and the teachers with love.

Jenny Barrett

Co-leader: Anatomy & Physiology and Biomechanics

What inspires you to teach yoga?

I am inspired to help others while building community.

What is your background- both in yoga and otherwise?

I am a 500HR E-RYT. I’ve been a student of yoga for 16 years and teaching for 10 years. My 200 Hour Training had a focus in Ashtanga, while my 300 Hour Training was in Vinyasa. I’ve led 5 Yoga Teacher Trainings and enjoy helping others understand their bodies.

What do you hope to bring to the students in the teacher training?

A better understanding of the body and how to safely guide students through their practice. It’s important to foster a practice that is enjoyable to everyone and supports their anatomy.

What brings you joy?

My family, my dog and being near the water. I’m happiest when connecting to the outdoors and observing the beauty that surrounds us.

Can you share one thing (or two!) about the Razz community that inspires and/or motivates you?

I appreciate that everyone supports one another, and not just teacher to student but, often student to student and teacher to teacher.

Gabrielle Sulc

Guest Faculty

What inspires you to teach yoga?

Frankly, I sincerely teach because people keep showing up to learn.

What is your background- both in yoga and otherwise?

Yoga started as an exercise for me in 2000. Over many years, and over 1000 hours of teacher training certifications, yoga became the navigational tool of how I live and relate to the world. My degree is in business and entrepreneurship. Today I use that knowledge and many years of experience in yoga and business to operate my retreat center in California.

What do you hope to bring to the students in the teacher training?

I hope to provide inspiration.

What brings you joy?

Facilitating positive experiences for others.

Can you share one thing (or two!) about the Razz community that inspires and/or motivates you?

One thing inspires me about Razz is Heather's dedication to the community which is mirrored by the dedication of the teachers and students.
